PACKING LIST

WHAT TO PACK:

Because you won't be leaving the confines of your home/office and won't be straying too far from your computer monitor, you won't have to pack your toothbrush or your fancy duds. In fact, you can hang out in front of your computer in your sweats, for all we will know or see. BUT... we still need you to pack your "virtual duffle bag" with materials you will need to have to complete assignments help to focus our conversations. Make sure you have the following available (in electronic format, so they can be shared with others as the week progresses):

* Each participant should gather a copy of any/all existing policies/procedures regarding students with disabilities on your campus
Significant time will be spent assuring that by the time you are finished with Boot Camp, you have a working set of policies/procedures to guide on-campus and online activities. If your office does not yet have established policies/procedures, we will help you create and tailor such guidelines to suit your situation; if there is existing structure for your services, we will review that structure in depth and help to refine and supplement such documents.

* You will need a copy of your existing position description.

* If available, have a copy of the organization chart showing the placement of disability services within the institutional structure.

* If the campus has done a recent (within 3 years) survey of physical accessibility, it might be useful to share (at least the summary information).

* You should gather together each existing form currently in use in your office (anything from confidentiality releases, to faculty notification letters, to initial intake forms, to ???); The more you have available in electronic format the better, but you should at least have them in front of you while we are discussing them, so that you can compare your form with what others are using.

* Prior to the start of Boot Camp, you will be contacted by one of your instructors about additional information to be "packed," including information about the population of students you serve, information about your own background before assuming your current position, and information about the campus climate in which you serve.
